Helena Wright and missing infant search halted by weather in South Australia

Helena Wright, 36, and her three‑month‑old son were identified after their bodies were found in the water off Port MacDonnell, South Australia. Police believe the mother fell from a cliff, while the infant remains missing.

Search efforts have been repeatedly delayed by rough seas and strong winds, prompting authorities to move the operation from water to land. Superintendent Trent Cox said conditions were “extremely challenging” and that it was “very unlikely the infant has survived.” Police Commissioner Grant Stevens and Premier Peter Malinauskas expressed deep sorrow for the community, and Mayor Kylie Boston noted local residents are rallying together.
