Hellenic Cadastre announces new property ownership and digital correction procedures

The Hellenic Cadastre is implementing two major procedural changes for property owners starting in mid-September.

On September 16, a new process begins for individuals claiming ownership through extraordinary prescription for properties currently registered under ‘unknown owner’ status. This new procedure introduces mandatory cadastral mediation involving a certified legal professional. Applicants must provide at least two forms of evidence, such as utility bills (DEH, OTE, water), rental agreements, tax declarations (E9), or building permits, to substantiate their connection to the property.

On September 18, a new digital process via the ‘Metavoles’ platform will launch to allow for the correction of property boundaries, areas, and geometric data. This digital transition aims to reduce bureaucracy by allowing owners, authorized representatives, and engineers to submit applications, objections, and appeals electronically using Taxisnet credentials. The platform will facilitate the submission of geometric change diagrams and required documentation, replacing previous paper-based methods to expedite property transactions and legal clarity.
