Hellenic Coast Guard rescues passengers from sinking vessel near Fleves
A maritime rescue operation was conducted in the Saronic Gulf after a sailing vessel encountered difficulties west of Fleves Island. The vessel, flying a Turkish flag, experienced water ingress and began to sink.
According to reports, the number of passengers involved varied between eight and ten individuals. The passengers included Turkish nationals and one Belgian national. The rescue was coordinated by the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Hellenic Coast Guard) with assistance from a Cayman Islands-flagged support vessel.
All passengers were successfully rescued and transferred to the Vouliagmeni Marina. They were reported to be in good health. No maritime pollution was observed following the incident, and local authorities have launched a preliminary investigation into the matter.
