Hellenic Train completes first phase of Greek railway digital transformation
Hellenic Train has completed the first phase of the ‘Digital Transformation of OSE’ project, a major initiative aimed at modernizing the digital infrastructure and services of the Greek railway network. The completion and acceptance of the physical works were approved by the Board of Directors on August 27, 2026.
Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility under the ‘Greece 2.0’ National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project utilizes European Union NextGenerationEU funding. This phase includes the development of central digital applications and the installation of new infrastructure at 30 railway stations.
Key upgrades include a new ticketing management system for modern issuance, validation, and control processes, as well as a new telematics and passenger information system. The second phase of the project will focus on connecting with third-party systems and completing onboard telematics infrastructure to create a unified, interoperable digital ecosystem.
