Helsinki rolls out extensive midsummer festivities and Pride week program

Helsinki has organized a wide range of activities for the midsummer (Juhannus) celebrations. Free dance events will be held at Cafe Iisi, boat trips to nearby islands such as Vallisaari and Pihlajasaari will depart from the market square, and traditional bonfires will be lit where fire bans permit. Saunas, amusement parks, swimming pools and other venues will stay open late, and cultural performances are scheduled throughout the weekend.

The city’s Pride week runs from June 22 to June 28, offering a largely free programme that includes concerts, workshops, karaoke, drag performances and glitter‑filled shows across cultural centres, libraries, museums and the Nuorten Pride House. Highlights feature a Pride parade, youth‑focused events, and a concluding park celebration in Kaivopuisto on June 27. The schedule aims to promote equality and community participation for all ages.
