Hemant Soren announces potential cancellation of JPSC exams amid irregularity probes

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced in the State Assembly that the government will not hesitate to cancel the 14th JPSC Preliminary examination and two backlog exams if investigations confirm irregularities. This decision follows widespread student protests against alleged paper leaks, corruption, and systemic flaws in recruitment processes conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

Soren stated that high-level investigations have been ordered and that any officials or leaders found guilty of misconduct will be held accountable. To prevent future malpractice, the government plans to reform the examination system by seeking expertise from prestigious institutions such as IIT and IIM to ensure transparency and security.

Additionally, the Chief Minister launched the ‘Students Voice with Students’ campaign, which has already received over 8,500 suggestions from young citizens regarding improvements to OMR sheets, exam calendars, scorecards, and technological integration. While the government is sensitive to student demands, Soren emphasized that final decisions regarding cancellations will be made only after the completion of official inquiries.
