Hendrik Holt, a convicted wind power fraudster, is currently at large after failing to return from a sanctioned leave of absence from a Berlin prison. The 36-year-old had been serving a sentence of nearly nine years following a 2022 conviction by the Osnabrück District Court for organized fraud, bribery, and forgery. Holt had previously defrauded international energy companies by selling non-existent wind farm projects and bribing foreign diplomats to obtain immunity.

Authorities have issued a European arrest warrant for Holt. While his exact location is unconfirmed, social media posts from an account attributed to him suggest he may be in Moscow, Russia, featuring messages such as ‘Greetings from Moscow’ and images of the city.

In a related development, the investment firm Crisp Partners identified Holt as an intermediary in the 2025 sale of Rostock-Laage Airport. Karsten Lauth of Crisp Partners stated that Holt’s proposal to integrate renewable energy projects was a key factor in the acquisition, though his disappearance does not affect the firm’s ongoing airport operations.
