Thomas & Friends Mattel Henry Golding animated series Railway Stories

Mattel has announced a comprehensive relaunch of the Thomas & Friends franchise, centered on a new animated series titled ‘Thomas & Friends: Railway Stories’. The relaunch celebrates the brand’s 80-year legacy with refreshed character designs and a new ‘Easy Connect’ magnetic toy system.

The brand update begins with a 30-minute special, ‘Really Helpful Engines’, which is currently available on YouTube and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 30, 2026. The special features English narration by actor Henry Golding and Spanish narration by actress Karla Souza. The full animated series is expected to debut in early 2027 across platforms including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and various free-to-air channels.

In addition to digital content, Mattel is introducing a pop-up experience at the High Line in New York City on October 2, 2026, featuring life-size displays and a special premiere screening. The new line of die-cast and motorized engines is also being released to global retailers.
