Heritage restoration projects announced for San Juan Cathedral and Novelda Sanctuary

In Argentina, the six religious sculptures on the facade of the San Juan Cathedral have been restored. These iron figures, originally crafted in France in 1870, were returned to their positions following historical damage from the 1944 earthquake. A public blessing ceremony is scheduled for August 29, following a mass officiated by Archbishop Monseñor Jorge Lozano. The event will also announce a new phase of the restoration plan, which includes remodeling the adjacent side plaza, changing the flooring, and installing restored metal lanterns.

In Spain, the Novelda City Council has awarded a contract to Manibus Proyectos for the rehabilitation and consolidation of the Sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena. The project, valued at approximately 299,476 euros, aims to resolve structural issues that have kept the monument closed to the public since December 2025. The work is expected to take five months and includes the restoration of mural paintings and ground reinforcement using expansive resin injections.
