Hermandad de la Macarena announces restoration of historic mantle

The Hermandad de la Macarena and the Fundación Cajasol have announced a restoration project for the ‘Camaronero’ mantle of María Santísima de la Esperanza. This mesh mantle is considered a significant piece of Seville’s religious embroidery history.

Designer Sergio Cornejo and the workshop Sucesores de Elena Caro will lead the intervention. The project aims to respect the original design by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda, focusing on the structure and ornamentation to restore the piece's overall visual integrity without altering its character. The restoration is expected to take approximately two years and will prioritize the conservation of original elements, replacing only those that are too damaged to be preserved.
