Hermanos Serdán International Airport to undergo 1,050 million peso renovation
The Hermanos Serdán International Airport in Huejotzingo, Puebla, will undergo a major modernization and expansion project with an investment exceeding 1,050 million pesos. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Government of Puebla, the Government of Mexico, and Grupo Maya.
The project aims to double the airport's annual capacity from 1.4 million to 2.8 million passengers. Planned improvements include an intervention of over 49,000 square meters, featuring six boarding gates (two contact and four remote), eight high-tech security arches, eight migration modules, and four baggage carousels. The terminal will also include 40 documentation points, e-gates, expanded parking, and new commercial spaces.
Gobernador Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that the project will not utilize Public-Private Partnerships (APP) or Service Provision Projects (PPS) to avoid generating debt. Construction is scheduled to begin by the first week of December 2026, with an estimated completion timeline of 18 months.
