Hermosillo citizens define 264 works via Creces program

The Hermosillo municipal government has implemented the ‘Presupuesto Creces’ program, a citizen participation initiative that has resulted in the definition of 264 public works projects. More than 187,000 residents have participated in the process, which allows citizens in both urban and rural areas to propose and decide on the allocation of municipal funds.

Since its inception in 2022, the program's budget has increased from 40 million to 100 million pesos. Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez noted during his second results report that the initiative was recognized with the ‘Premio NovaGob México 2026’ in the category of Innovation in Citizen Participation.

The current fifth edition of the program, which began assemblies on September 1, aims to finance 50 zone projects, six district projects, and one city-wide project using the 100 million peso fund.
