Mexican municipalities report on infrastructure, security, and economic growth

Various Mexican municipal administrations have presented their second annual government reports, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, security, and economic development.

In Hermosillo, Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez reported a 26% decrease in crime and a significant drop in the perception of insecurity. The city also reached its lowest unemployment rate in 25 years, with over 11,000 formal jobs created between January and August 2026. Business leaders have expressed support for his administration's focus on financial autonomy and technology.

In Xicoténcatl, Mayor Mariela López Sosa presented her report with support from Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya. The Governor pledged support to complete the Rehabilitation and Stimulation Center for Autism (CREA) and noted potential economic benefits for the local sugar industry.

In Huejutla, Mayor José Alfredo San Román Duval detailed an investment of approximately 500 million pesos for over 200 infrastructure projects, including water, paving, and educational facilities. Additionally, in Saltillo, local authorities conducted operations in bars and cantinas, resulting in the closure of the El Dorado establishment due to safety and licensing violations.

In San Luis Potosí, the Secretary of Security supervised operational bases in the Altiplano region to strengthen security at state borders and target criminal objectives.
