Hermosillo reports significant drop in insecurity perception

During his second government report, Hermosillo Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez highlighted significant improvements in public safety and financial stability for the Sonoran capital. According to INEGI data, the city has seen a substantial reduction in the perception of insecurity, dropping from 66.8% to 43.2% over a five-year period, marking the largest decrease among state capitals in Mexico.

Security measures implemented include reducing emergency response times from 40 to 5 minutes, deploying a fleet of 347 electric patrol cars, establishing 21 Immediate Response Centers, and utilizing 'EscuaDrones' for aerial surveillance. The municipal police and transit department also achieved the CERTIPOL recertification for quality standards.

Financially, the administration reported the highest growth in credit rating at a national level by international agencies. Additionally, an audit by ISAF of over 1.1 billion pesos in public works for the 2025 public account resulted in zero observations.
