Hermès opens major new London maison on New Bond Street

Hermès has inaugurated its sixth global maison at 166 New Bond Street in London, marking the completion of a massive architectural renovation. The project involved unifying six disparate buildings, spanning 55 rooms and approximately 2,000 square meters of commercial space.

Designed by Denis Montel of RDAI, with architectural elements by Foster + Partners, the site features a mix of historic structures dating back to 1769. The renovation included the restoration of 19th-century mosaics and the integration of a Victorian elevator and a limestone and glass spiral staircase.

Art serves as a central theme of the new location, which houses over 500 works of art, including ceramics, paintings, and photography by artists such as Martin Parr and Lee Miller. Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the artistic director of Hermès, noted that the goal was to infuse the space with spirit and life, creating an environment that functions as an extension of the brand's museum-like heritage.
