Hernán Casciari faces fraud allegations over Orsai Audiovisuales investments

Argentine writer Hernán Casciari and his company, Orsai Audiovisuales, are under criminal investigation following a complaint filed by 18 producer-partners. The complainants allege fraud and fraudulent administration, claiming they were promised high returns on investments ranging from US$ 50 to US$ 3,000 for various film and series projects.

According to the legal filing, many investors received returns of less than 3% or recovered nothing at all. Specific projects mentioned include ‘La muerte de un comediante’, ‘La Uruguaya’, ‘Canelones’, and the documentary ‘D.A.M.’. Investors have also questioned the lack of transparency, noting they received general spreadsheets but lacked detailed invoices, contracts, or receipts to verify expenditures.

Casciari has denied all allegations of intentional fraud, stating, “A person who scams... acts with premeditation.” While he admitted to management errors and acknowledged that certain projects did not meet expectations, he maintains that the issues stem from poor administration rather than criminal intent. He has released a QR code containing documentation of expenses and invoices for projects conducted between 2021 and 2025 to support his defense. The case is currently being handled by the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 34 and Prosecutor's Office No. 16 in Buenos Aires.
