Hernán Casciari faces legal action over film crowdfunding scandal

Argentine writer Hernán Casciari is facing criminal charges for fraudulent administration following a failed crowdfunding initiative for audiovisual projects. A group of shareholders has filed a lawsuit alleging mismanagement of funds intended for several film productions.

One of the most ambitious projects involved was ‘La muerte de un comediante’, starring Diego Peretti. While the crowdfunding model—similar to the one used for Casciari’s Orsai publication—was intended to produce content without state subsidies, the initiative has resulted in significant financial complications.

Actress Verónica Llinás, who participated in the film ‘Canelones’, has distanced herself from the administrative side of the production. While she expressed pride in the artistic work and its subsequent awards, she stated she had no involvement in the financial management and left the matter to the judicial system.
