Herten introduces guided bike tours and advances the Antoniuswache police precinct project
The RVR visitor centre Hoheward in Herten will launch its first guided bicycle tours on 7 June. A 36‑kilometre loop around the city will run from 14:30 to 17:30, with guides providing information on local landscape, history and the area’s transformation. Participation costs €15, and the centre also rents pedelecs and e‑mountain bikes for the outings.
The city council is also reviewing the proposed "Antoniuswache" precinct, which would relocate the police department to a new building and create a direct link to Hermannstraße. Mayor Fred Toplak is seeking council approval. The announcement coincides with other municipal matters, including recent criticism of apartment renovations, a regional heat‑protection programme, and a police raid on a local rock‑milieu group.
