Herzegovina hosts inaugural HerzOliveFest to promote local olive oils
The Hercegovačka Udruga Uljara i Maslinara (HUUM) is organizing the inaugural HerzOliveFest – Zlatne Kapi Hercegovine. The festival, held on August 21–22, 2026, at the Romanca restaurant in Bišće polje, aims to capitalize on the recent international success of Herzegovinian olive oils.
Recently, HUUM achieved significant recognition at the New Olive Oil Competition, securing 15 gold medals and one silver medal from 19 samples. This success follows the attainment of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status from the Food Safety Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the registration of the ‘Zlatne kapi Hercegovine’ brand with the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH.
The event features olive oil tastings led by an official organoleptic panel, exhibitions of extra virgin oils, and presentations of local traditional products. A cross-border panel titled ‘Eastern Adriatic – a smart and sustainable capital of premium olive growing’ will bring together experts from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to discuss the future of the industry and climate change resilience.
