Hezbollah condemns Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's Washington visit as submission to foreign influence

Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc denounced Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, calling the trip a failure and a clear sign of Lebanon’s “submission to foreign tutelage.” The group said the visit produced no American commitment to a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, did not halt Israeli attacks, and offered no guarantee for the safe return of displaced residents or the start of reconstruction.

Hezbollah reiterated its rejection of any direct Lebanon‑Israel talks and the U.S.-brokered framework agreement signed last month, demanding a complete Israeli pull‑out. Meanwhile, the Lebanese army began deploying to Zawtar al‑Gharbiya under the agreement, while Israeli forces continued intermittent strikes in the south, including a large detonation near Al‑Tiri and the wounding of a Syrian worker.

The criticism reflects ongoing tensions between Hezbollah, the Lebanese government, and external powers over sovereignty, security, and the future of the southern border region.
