Hezbollah-linked fighter killed after crossing from Lebanon into northern Israel

Israeli military reports that a gunman identified as a Hezbollah-affiliated combatant slipped from Lebanon into the Israeli‑occupied northern West Bank near the Rikhis‑Rameem area and opened fire on Israeli forces. The soldier was shot and killed without any Israeli casualties. Following the incident, the army deployed additional troops, conducted extensive sweep operations with ground units and aircraft, and closed nearby roads, directing residents of settlements such as Mechaf, Marghlut and the Menara area to remain in shelters.

The clash prompted a heightened security alert along the Lebanon‑Israel border, with Israeli authorities warning of possible further infiltrations and urging heightened vigilance in the frontier settlements. The event is described as an unprecedented breach since the renewed hostilities that began in October 2023.
