Hezbollah Rejects Ceasefire as Rocket and Drone Attacks Surge Against Israel

Hezbollah has refused a U.S.-mediated ceasefire proposal, calling it a surrender, and continues to fire rockets and drones into northern Israel. In the past three months the group launched roughly 2,500 rockets at Israeli territory and about 5,500 rockets at Israeli Defence Forces operating in southern Lebanon, along with around 300 drones, of which 25 struck Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that, if the attacks do not stop, Israel will conduct massive airstrikes on southern Beirut. Iranian officials have warned they would respond hard if Israel moves against Beirut, raising the risk of a wider regional conflict. Israeli forces have already advanced deeper into southern Lebanon, seeking to create a buffer zone against the militant group.

The ongoing exchanges threaten to expand the fighting beyond the Lebanon‑Israel border and could draw in additional regional actors.
