Hezbollah tunnel network uncovered in Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon

Israeli Defense Forces disclosed a large underground complex beneath the village of Majdal Zoun, about seven kilometres from the Israeli border. The tunnel, roughly 170 m long and up to 25 m deep, is described as a "terror stronghold" built with Iranian design over an estimated ten‑year period. Inside, soldiers found eight tons of explosives, extensive drone components capable of reaching major Israeli cities, and stockpiles of weapons and mines. The IDF said the facility could launch unmanned aerial vehicles with a range of over 200 km.

The tunnel was destroyed by Israeli forces during the current Israel‑Hezbollah war, which has displaced more than a million people and taken control of roughly 6 % of Lebanese territory. The discovery comes as U.S.‑Iran cease‑fire negotiations, referenced by U.S. Vice‑President JD Vance, consider Lebanon's role in the broader regional conflict. UNIFIL troops remain in the area, monitoring the cease‑fire and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
