HFSA 2026: New clinical data presented for Tovinontrine and Eplontersen

At the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) 2026 annual meeting in Phoenix, new clinical data were presented regarding two different treatments for heart-related conditions.

Cardurion Pharmaceuticals reported Phase 2 results for Tovinontrine (CRD-750), a PDE9 inhibitor targeting patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The study found that a dosage of 2.5 mg twice daily most effectively lowered the biomarker NT-proBNP after 12 weeks. The data indicated that the therapeutic effect begins by the second week and remains stable, whereas higher doses, such as 50 mg, did not show corresponding benefits. The drug maintained a favorable safety profile.

Separately, results from the Phase 3 CARDIO-TTRansform trial regarding eplontersen for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) were discussed. While the trial failed to meet its primary efficacy endpoint of reducing cardiovascular mortality and recurrent clinical events, the treatment showed improvements in patient quality of life, specifically regarding the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) and the 6-minute walk test (6MWT).
