Hidalgo authorities discover 30-meter fuel theft tunnel

Authorities in Hidalgo, Mexico, have discovered a 30-meter-long underground tunnel used for the massive theft of fuel. During security operations led by Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar, a site in the Atitalaquia region was secured, yielding 20,900 liters of fuel, 150 meters of high-pressure hoses, and 23 large containers.

In addition to the tunnel discovery, officials inspected the Tula-Salamanca pipeline in the Tula-Tepeji region, where they located and closed five clandestine connections used for illegal hydrocarbon extraction.

Broader security operations in the state also resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals for drug trafficking across nine municipalities, the seizure of over 2,400 doses of narcotics, and the recovery of stolen goods and vehicles. Authorities also reported the successful location of 17 missing persons during the same period.
