Hidalgo, Mexico experiences two shallow earthquakes, no damage reported

Two shallow tremors were recorded in the Mezquital Valley of Hidalgo early Thursday morning. The first quake struck at 03:19 a.m. with a magnitude of 4.0, its epicenter 7 km northeast of Progreso de Obregón at a depth of 5 km. A second tremor followed at 03:47 a.m., measuring magnitude 3.8, with its epicenter 18 km east of Ixmiquilpan at a depth of 3.8 km.

Local civil‑protection teams inspected the affected municipalities—including Mixquiahuala, Progreso, Ixmiquilpan, Tezontepec de Aldama and Actopan—reporting no injuries, damage to public infrastructure, homes or basic services. Authorities urged residents to stay calm and remain alert for possible aftershocks.
