Highland Resort Hotel & Spa to launch Japan’s first permanent Sumikko Gurashi rooms

Highland Resort Hotel & Spa in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, will open Japan’s first permanent character-themed accommodations, the ‘Sumikko Gurashi Rooms,’ on November 28, 2026. The two new room types are designed to extend the experience of the adjacent ‘San-X Paradise’ area at Fuji-Q Highland.

The first room, ‘Stay Party with Sumikko Gurashi,’ is themed after ‘Café Sumikko’ and features photo spots and a small raised floor area where guests can claim their favorite corner. The second room, ‘Tapioca Search with Sumikko Gurashi,’ offers an interactive mission where guests use a mission sheet to find hidden ‘tapioca’ items throughout the room.

Guests who complete their respective room missions will receive exclusive novelty items, such as a replica card key, upon checkout. Additionally, guests will have access to original amenities available only to those staying in these themed rooms. Reservations are scheduled to begin on October 28, 2026.
