Highway 52 at I-90 interchange closure begins Monday
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced a closure of Highway 52 in both directions at the Interstate 90 interchange southeast of Rochester. The closure is scheduled to begin at 1 a.m. on Monday and is expected to conclude by 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Work during this period includes removing temporary bridge work on the I-90 westbound overpass, painting bridge rails and beams, completing final pavement on Highway 52, and installing temporary striping. The $27.5 million interchange transformation project is currently in its third and final year. The closure was previously delayed due to heavy rainfall in southeast Minnesota.
Detour routes have been established for motorists. Southbound Highway 52 drivers will be directed to I-90 via Highway 63 in Rochester, exiting at County Road 7. Northbound motorists will be directed to I-90 via County Road 7 and exiting at the Highway 52 exit. The recently completed flyover ramp connecting southbound Highway 52 with eastbound I-90 will be included in the closure, though the offramp from westbound I-90 to northbound Highway 52 will remain open.
