Highway 52 and I-90 interchange activity

Overview

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) initiated a scheduled closure of Highway 52 in both directions at the Interstate 90 interchange southeast of Rochester. This closure, part of a $27.5 million interchange transformation project in its third year, was intended to facilitate bridge work, painting, pavement completion, and striping installation.

Following the construction period, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Friday morning near the same interchange. The crash involved a southbound small SUV and a pickup truck. One driver was transported to St. Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other driver and a passenger remained uninjured. State Patrol reported that seat belts were worn and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
