Highway 57 rehabilitation causes economic disruption in Querétaro

Alfredo Sahagún Sánchez, president of Canacintra in Querétaro, has called on the Mexican federal government to provide clarity regarding the duration of rehabilitation works on Highway 57. He described the current situation as a “collapse” of the country’s most important highway, affecting the Mexico-Querétaro route.

The disruption is causing significant economic losses and logistical challenges. Beyond standard traffic congestion, the works are hindering the transport of raw materials, export products, and personnel. Sahagún noted that some companies have faced production halts due to employees being unable to reach their workplaces, with commutes increasing by several hours.

Canacintra intends to meet with the state delegation of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT) to demand a specific work plan and concrete completion dates. The organization emphasized that the federal government must act with responsibility regarding logistics and timelines to mitigate the impact on regional competitiveness.
