Hirfanlı Dam Lake hosts Anatolian Sailing League races

The Anatolian Sailing League's 3rd stage Optimist Sailing Races have commenced at Hirfanlı Dam Lake in the Kaman district of Kırşehir, Turkey. Organized by the Turkish Sailing Federation (TYF) in collaboration with the Ahiler Development Agency (AHİKA), the event features 75 young athletes representing 12 different clubs from 9 provinces.

Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek highlighted the significant potential of Hirfanlı Dam Lake for water sports, describing the 263-square-kilometer body of water as a ‘small inland sea.’ Local officials expressed their commitment to utilizing the lake's 6 billion cubic meter water volume to establish Kırşehir as a leading center for sailing and other aquatic disciplines.

The competition aims to expand the reach of sailing within Turkey's inland waters and encourage youth participation in water sports. Despite hot weather conditions, participants are competing for rankings within the league, with officials emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and discipline alongside competitive success.
