Water sports competitions in Turkey
Overview
Turkey is hosting several international and regional water sports competitions throughout late summer and early autumn.
In early September, Tekirdağ hosted the 10th International Süleymanpaşa Cup Sailing Races in the Sea of Marmara, featuring approximately 280 young athletes from seven different countries. Concurrently, Istanbul held the second DenizBank Tersane Istanbul Rowing Cup in the Golden Horn, which included coastal rowing, club competitions, and university races.
Following these events, the Anatolian Sailing League's 3rd stage Optimist Sailing Races began at Hirfanlı Dam Lake in Kırşehir. This competition involves 75 young athletes from 12 clubs across nine provinces. Local officials have noted the potential of the Hirfanlı Dam Lake to serve as a major center for aquatic disciplines.
