Hirokazu Kore-eda releases new trailer for Look Back live-action film

GKIDS has released a new trailer for Look Back, a live-action adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed manga. Directed, written, and edited by Palme d'Or winner Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film marks the first live-action adaptation of Fujimoto’s single-volume work.

The story follows the evolving relationship between two students, Fujino and Kyomoto, whose shared passion for manga drawing brings them together despite their contrasting personalities. The narrative spans 13 years, from elementary school through young adulthood, exploring themes of artistic ambition, personal growth, and loss.

Following its commercial release in Japan on September 11, the film has appeared at international festivals including Venice, Toronto, and London. In the United States, GKIDS has scheduled limited theatrical screenings to begin on December 30, 2026, with a wider release following on January 15, 2027.
