Historical landmarks in Czechia and Slovakia undergo restoration
Several historical landmarks and architectural sites in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are undergoing significant restoration or redevelopment projects.
In the Czech Republic, the Lesní mlýn hotel in Mariánské Lázně is being revitalized by new owners to restore its former glory. In Chudobín, developer Roman Mátl has acquired a decaying castle with plans to build a hotel, wellness center, and a residential facility for approximately 200 seniors by 2028. Additionally, the Samson Fountain in České Budějovice is scheduled for paving repairs and winter preparation starting October 1.
In Slovakia, the Clock Tower in Banská Bystrica will undergo a two-month renovation starting September 28. The project aims to improve safety and accessibility, including the installation of heating cables to prevent ice formation on the observation deck and the replacement of wooden flooring with weather-resistant composite materials. Officials also hope to repair the tower's historic clock face during this period.
