Overview

In late September 2026, several restoration and redevelopment projects were announced across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In Slovakia, the Coburg Palace in Jelšava is entering a new renovation phase focused on its Baroque wing and main entrance gate, supported by approximately 1.8 million euros from European sources. Additionally, the Clock Tower in Banská Bystrica is scheduled for a two-month renovation beginning September 28. This project aims to improve safety and accessibility by replacing wooden flooring with weather-resistant composite materials and installing heating cables to prevent ice formation on the observation deck. Officials also intend to repair the tower’s historic clock face.

In the Czech Republic, maintenance is scheduled for the 300-year-old Samson Fountain in České Budějovice, with paving repairs and winter preparation starting October 1. Other regional developments include the revitalization of the Lesní mlýn hotel in Mariánské Lázně and a project in Chudobín, where developer Roman Mátl plans to transform a decaying castle into a hotel, wellness center, and residential facility for approximately 200 seniors by 2028.
