Hitachi expands HMAX portfolio with new physical AI solutions

Hitachi has expanded its HMAX portfolio, a suite of solutions designed to transform social infrastructure by combining AI, data, and domain expertise. The expansion introduces “HMAX Data Center,” a domain-specific solution aimed at the integrated operation and maintenance of data center infrastructure, including power, IT, and cooling systems. This platform supports multi-vendor monitoring and incident response to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

In addition to the data center solution, Hitachi announced three new cross-industry “foundry” offerings: HMAX Cyber, which provides operational resilience and 24/7 monitoring; HMAX Data Fabric, to fuse internal and external data; and HMAX AI Operations. The HMAX architecture is structured into three layers: a physical layer for data collection, a data fabric layer for service realization, and a presentation layer accessible to humans, AI agents, and robots.

Hitachi aims to position itself as a leader in “physical AI”—technology capable of interpreting real-world conditions to support autonomous decision-making. This strategy addresses labor shortages and the increasing complexity of industrial facilities. The company expects HMAX revenue to reach 500 billion yen with a 22% profit margin by fiscal year 2026, building on its collaboration with ecosystem partners like NVIDIA.
