Hitachi Seaside Park Kochia plants reach peak autumn colors
Approximately 40,000 Kochia plants at Hitachi Seaside Park's 'Miharashi no Oka' hill have reached their peak autumn coloring. From October 24 to October 30, 2026, the landscape is expected to display a gradient of deep red and amber hues.
Kochia, an annual plant native to the arid regions of Eurasia, is also used for seasonal displays; once the autumn coloring is complete, some plants are dried and repurposed for large-scale ground art installations during the winter. The plants will be removed around November 4 to prepare the area for Nemophila planting.
