Hưng Yên police warn of online VND‑KRW exchange scams

The Hưng Yên Provincial Police have issued a warning after a surge of fraud cases in which scammers on Facebook, Zalo and Telegram promise rapid, fee‑free conversion of Vietnamese đồng to South Korean won. Victims are lured with advertised "excellent rates" and, after a few small test transactions, are persuaded to transfer tens to hundreds of millions of đồng. The fraudsters then disappear, often using fake bank staff identities, fabricated transfer receipts and deep‑fake video or audio to conceal their deception.

Police advise anyone who has made such transactions to verify the counterparties, report suspicious activity immediately and avoid any currency exchange outside official banking channels. The warning follows numerous complaints from residents who lost large sums of money to these schemes.
