Hưng Yên fraud scams warnings

In late July 2026, the Hưng Yên Provincial Police alerted parents to a wave of impersonation fraud in which scammers posed as school officials or teachers to collect upfront school fees. The fraudsters used fake Zalo and Facebook accounts that mimicked real teachers, joined or created parent‑teacher chat groups, and pressured families to transfer money quickly to “trash” bank accounts with names similar to the school. Police urged verification with schools and caution with urgent payment requests.

A week later, on 1 August 2026, the same police force issued a second warning, this time about online currency‑exchange scams. Fraudsters on Facebook, Zalo and Telegram promised rapid, fee‑free conversion of Vietnamese đồng to South Korean won, using fabricated receipts, deep‑fake audio/video and fake bank‑staff identities. Victims were enticed with attractive rates, made small test transfers, then were persuaded to send larger sums before the scammers vanished. Authorities again advised verification of counterparties, use of official banking channels, and immediate reporting of suspicious activity.

Both alerts illustrate a broader pattern of organized online fraud targeting residents of Hưng Yên, with police repeatedly urging vigilance, verification, and reporting to curb the scams.
