Hưng Yên school fee scams warn parents of impersonation fraud

Police in Hưng Yên province, Vietnam, have alerted parents to a wave of scams in which fraudsters pose as school officials or class teachers to collect upfront school fees. The perpetrators collect personal data from students and parents through public social‑media profiles, surveys or data leaks, then create fake Zalo and Facebook accounts that mirror real teachers. They join existing class chat groups or set up bogus parent‑teacher groups, posting messages that list detailed charges for tuition, uniforms, class funds, supplies and health insurance.

Victims are pressured to transfer money quickly, often with threats that delayed payment could jeopardise enrollment. Payments are directed to “trash” bank accounts that use names similar to the school. Police advise parents to verify any request by contacting the school directly, watch for urgent language, and be wary of unfamiliar bank account details.
