Ho Chi Minh City advances major metro and urban railway projects
Ho Chi Minh City is advancing several major urban railway projects. Construction is accelerating on Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong), which spans approximately 11.3 km and includes 10 underground stations. The project is being executed by a consortium comprising THACO Group and China Railway Group Limited.
Simultaneously, authorities are conducting public consultations regarding the 45 km Metro Line 4, which is planned to connect Dong Thanh, Tan Son Nhat, Ben Thanh, and Hiep Phuoc. This line is expected to feature 31 stations and two depots, with roughly 20.7 km of the route running underground.
Additionally, officials are exploring the development of underground spaces integrated with metro stations. Proposals include studying the underground areas beneath the T3 station at Tan Son Nhat Airport in coordination with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), as well as exploring commercial opportunities at the Ben Thanh central station.
