Ho Chi Minh City expands economic space via Free Trade Zone and infrastructure

Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating economic development through major infrastructure projects and strategic industrial investments. The city has officially approved the construction of the Cai Mep Ha Free Trade Zone (FTZ), a project spanning over 4,200 hectares. This FTZ is designed to transition the region from a port-based economy to a high-value logistics, trade, and service ecosystem, leveraging its proximity to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port complex and Long Thanh International Airport.

In addition to the FTZ, Ho Chi Minh City's industrial investment attraction has already surpassed its 2026 targets. The city is also prioritizing the commencement of 16 key infrastructure projects around the September 2 holiday, including transportation upgrades, social housing, and urban beautification. These projects, such as the expansion of National Highway 1, aim to improve living standards and support the city's goal of achieving double-digit growth through improved public investment disbursement.
