Ho Chi Minh City urban renewal projects

Ho Chi Minh City is undertaking significant urban renewal and infrastructure projects. One major initiative involves the renovation of canals and rivers, specifically the Van Thanh Canal, which is scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2030. This project aims to dredge canals, build embankments, and develop green spaces, requiring the relocation of over 41,500 households. To support this, the city has prepared resettlement options, including nearly 400 apartments in the Gia Dinh and Thanh My Tay wards.

In a separate development within District 1, the city has approved a 1/500 scale planning decision for the renovation of the Ma Lang and Cho Ga - Gao areas. Proposed by Khang Dien House Joint Stock Company, this project involves an investment exceeding 16,369 billion VND. The development includes the construction of a 35-story mixed-use apartment building in the Cho Ga - Gao area and approximately 1,400 apartment units, low-rise houses, and a school in the Ma Lang area. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with completion targeted between late 2028 and early 2029.
