Vietnam accelerates major national infrastructure and highway projects

Vietnam is advancing several major infrastructure and transportation projects across the country. In the south, construction is accelerating on the Can Gio - Vung Tau sea-crossing road, with efforts focused on site preparation and geological surveys to meet a 2029 completion target.

In the north, the expansion of National Highway 2 between Vinh Yen and Viet Tri is underway with over 1,258 billion VND in investment. Additionally, a proposal has been approved to invest 3,250 billion VND to upgrade the Ho Chi Minh Highway section from Pac Bo to Cao Bang, scheduled for completion by 2029.

Large-scale highway developments are also being proposed and planned. A consortium including CII Infrastructure Investment has proposed a 93,000 billion VND project to expand 551km of the North-South Expressway to six lanes. Meanwhile, the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road 5 is being prioritized for investment, with a target to complete the full 349km network by 2035 using various funding models, including public-private partnerships (PPP).
