Ho Chi Minh City approves 7,688 billion VND West Saigon drainage project

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved a project to improve the drainage, wastewater, and climate change adaptation systems in the West Saigon basin (CRUS2). The project has a total investment of approximately 7,688 billion VND (roughly 304.57 million USD).

The funding includes a 200.29 million USD loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and 104.28 million USD in counterpart capital. Scheduled for implementation between 2024 and 2029, the project will cover an area of approximately 528,000 square meters across several wards, including Dong Hung Thuan, Trung My Tay, Tan Thoi Hiep, An Hoi Tay, Tan Son, Tay Thanh, Tan Son Nhi, and Binh Hung Hoa.

Managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, the initiative aims to reduce environmental pollution and flooding, enhance urban resilience to climate change, and improve the quality of life for local residents.
