Ho Chi Minh City approves land use for flood control project settlement

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has approved the use of two land plots to settle a Build-Transfer (BT) contract for a major tidal flood control project. The project, designed to mitigate flooding caused by climate change and rising sea levels, is a significant infrastructure undertaking aimed at protecting the city's central and low-lying urban areas.

The two designated land areas total approximately 3.23 hectares. The first site is located at 79B Ly Thuong Kiet, Tan Hoa ward, covering nearly 30,000 m². This site, formerly the CMC Plaza, is planned for mixed-use development, including residential, commercial, and green space. The second site is at 257 Tran Hung Dao, Cau Ong Lanh ward, measuring approximately 2,341 m². This land was recently recovered by the city and is managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Land Development Center.

The settlement follows delays in the BT contract between the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and investors, including Trung Nam An Trieu Co., Ltd. The project is considered vital for the city's resilience against environmental impacts.
