Ho Chi Minh City civil court pays 318bn VND to Truong My Lan bondholders

The Ho Chi Minh City Civil Enforcement Court has disbursed a third‑installment of more than VND 318 billion to 42,607 bondholders affected by the Truong My Lan case. A further 501 claimants have not provided account details, so their amounts were placed in savings accounts pending verification. The court’s enforcement actions, spanning nine payment rounds from June 2025 to May 2026, aim to recover the roughly VND 30 trillion liability owed by Truong My Lan, chairwoman of Van Thinh Phat Group, to over 43 000 victims.

Effective 1 July 2025, Vietnam’s 2025 Civil Enforcement Law and Finance Ministry Decree 72/2026 introduce fee‑waiver provisions for certain groups, including war veterans, low‑income households, seniors without dependents, persons with disabilities, and ethnic minorities in disadvantaged communes. Applicants must submit supporting documents to qualify for fee exemptions in subsequent payment rounds.
