Ho Chi Minh City concert boom boosts local economy and hospitality

A surge in large-scale music concerts in Ho Chi Minh City attracted approximately 200,000 attendees over the weekend of October 17-18. Major events, including 'Anh trai vượt ngàn chông gai' and 'Tinh hà say hi', saw tickets sell out within minutes, with prices ranging from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of Vietnamese dong.

The influx of fans has significantly benefited the local service industry. Hotel bookings in the city saw a massive spike, with Trip.com data indicating a more than sevenfold increase in reservations for the period. Local hotels, such as the Grand Saigon and Vien Dong, reported high occupancy rates, with some reaching 95-96% capacity.

Revenue for concert organizers is driven by three primary streams: ticket sales, corporate sponsorships from sectors like FMCG and banking, and high-margin secondary sources. The event series is expected to continue driving demand for accommodation, dining, and shopping throughout the end of the year.
