Ho Chi Minh City expands hi‑tech park and revamps Saigon River waterfront

Ho Chi Minh City approved a plan to enlarge the Saigon Hi‑Tech Park by nearly 195 hectares in Long Phuoc Ward. The expansion will add research and development facilities, an innovation hub, business incubators and training centres, aiming to make the park a leading Southeast Asian centre for strategic technologies. The city will accelerate land acquisition, compensation and infrastructure work, with funding from the Department of Finance and coordination by a steering committee.

Separately, the municipal government launched a US$1.1 billion redevelopment of a 73‑hectare stretch of the Saigon River waterfront. The project includes the Nha Rong–Khanh Hoi Cultural Park, Bach Dang Public Green Park, a pedestrian bridge shaped like a ship’s bow, widened streets, new bridges and underground facilities. It will preserve historic port structures while adding cultural, commercial and recreational spaces, and is timed for completion by the National Day holiday on Sept. 2.
