Ho Chi Minh City tourism sector sees growth and green transition

Ho Chi Minh City is experiencing significant growth in its tourism and hospitality sectors. According to JLL, the city's hotel market saw RevPAR growth of over 15% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. With approximately 25,500 rooms across 265 midscale and higher-end properties, a constrained new supply is supporting pricing power, though many properties remain unbranded.

To support this expansion, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism is focusing on sustainability and product diversification. The department recently organized training for nearly 200 participants on implementing green and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards to improve competitiveness and reduce costs. Additionally, the city has launched a creative contest for souvenir and gift designs to better promote local culture and identity to the millions of international and domestic visitors arriving annually.

On a local level, Xuan Son commune is planning to develop a tourism village between 2026 and 2028, focusing on eco-tourism, homestays, and agricultural experiences while prioritizing legal compliance and environmental protection.
